Iron is one of the elements which are clearly stated in the Qur'an. In Surat Al Hadiid, which means "iron", we are told the following:
"... And We sent down iron in whom there is a great power and a range of benefits for humans ...." (Qur'an, 57:25)
The word "anzalnaa" which means "we sent down", specifically used for iron in the verse, can be interpreted figuratively to explain that iron was created for the benefit of humans. But when we consider the literal meaning of this word, namely "the material derived from the sky", we realize that this verse has a very significant scientific miracle.
This is because modern astronomical findings have revealed that the metallic iron found in our world come from giant stars in outer space.
Heavy metals in the universe is created and produced in the core of massive stars. However, our solar system do not have a suitable structure to produce iron independently. Iron can only be created and produced in stars are much larger than the sun, where the temperature reaches a few hundred million degrees. When the amount of iron has exceeded a certain limit in a star, the star can no longer bear it, and finally burst through the event called "nova" or a "supernova". As a result of this explosion, meteors containing iron are scattered throughout the universe and they move through a vacuum to run by the gravitational pull of celestial bodies in the early formation of the Earth billions of years ago.
All this suggests that the metal is not formed on earth but submissions from stars that exploded in space via meteors and "down to earth", exactly as stated in the verse: It is clear that this fact can not be known scientifically century to-7 when the Qur'an was revealed.
